BOOK REVIEW:

Few days back while scrolling Amazon, this book, out of blue, popped up as a recommendation on my screen, probably on the basis of my earlier search about Dale Carnegie's books. But what ceased me that moment to go through the initial details and reviews of the book is the name ' What To Say When You Talk to Yourself '. Words always have an influence on humans, they are one of the most potent weapons if used efficiently could wage or stop a war, initiate a settlement or a brawl. When the world was split into two, some housed in the balcony of 'Allies' and some in ' Axis ', there exist, two leaders, with completely different personalities but the one thing that was common among 'em was their ability to use the words to influence millions to follow 'em.One was Gandhi, struggling to get his Nation independence from the colonial rule but with the teachings of non-violence~'Ahinsa' and, on the contrary, has Adolf Hitler who spewed the aggressive words among his people to win states with illegitimacy & hence turned the whole world into a crisis that cost millions of lives. So, if words have been powerful enough to initiate the chain of events that could change the history of mankind then surely their usage on ourself turned out to be a deciding factor in our own personality.
I'd read so many motivational & self-help books but honestly, this is the first time I felt as if the techniques mentioned in the book to elevate in life are possible enough to put in action practically.
'What to Say When You Talk To Yourself ' holds the technique to become a motivator of yourself when needs to be. the book highlights how some negative words that we use in day to day life causes the failure and anxiety and how to replace those negative thoughts slowly and steadily with positive ones to enjoy the life with joy and smiles. In his lucid writing, Author had bolted how the self-talks could be a game changer in our life, how the self-conscious mind which works 24x7 and accepts every single thought as truth just like any naive do, without analyzing the thought as positive or negative and hence plays an important role to change our lives. Supply of positive thoughts to the subconscious mind keeps us mentally fit as fresh vegetables did and the negative thoughts slowly and steadily make us the piece of junk & a basic reason to came across severe failures many times. Hence, it's finally turns out to be our own responsibility for ourself to supply our mind with positive thoughts and then comes this book into picture which helps us to critically understand the situation and then facilitates the techniques to get the solution .

So we can rely on ourself to optimize our outlook, focus our plans and keep ourself on top, in going for it! We can do it by adapting the simple techniques of Self-Talk, and understand the power of Key Phrases like:
# I choose my thoughts. No thought, at any time, can dwell in my mind without my permission.
# I have talents, skills, and abilities -and I'm discovering new talents all the time.
This book holds how, when & where to use self-talk techniques to ensure a relax and cheerful life not just as a student but also as an employee & Yes, the author had also depicted the self-talk of the addicts to get rid of the addictions. So grab this book & give yourself the kind, determined and loving support that you like to give to your best friend. Harness the power of the ultimate motivator-You.

The Honest Season

Engaging ....... Perspicuously Written !!!

BOOK DETAILS:

Title: The Honest Season
Author: Kota Neelima
Genre: Fiction
Publishers:  Random House India
Price: INR. 299
Goodreads Rating: 5/5

BOOK REVIEW:

Honesty ? When Stuck in a generation where loyalty is just a Tattoo, Love is just a Quote and Lying is a new truth then what exactly defines Honesty? & like spring, Rainy, Winter or Autumn Does there exist any ' Honest Season ', a season in which people undergoes some psychological change and start being ' Honest ' though for a time being. And what will happen if out of blue this season comes to existence, and people decided, to be honest? How will this decision affect them? What consequences the need to face while choosing this new path? How will the people in their milieu react? And most importantly, how 'll the slaves of deception respond?

' The Honest Season ' written by Kota Neelima is an engaging political thriller that revolves around a known journalist, Mira Mouli. Armed with special powers to read people's thoughts by their acts, the way they speak, their expressions or the things they wear, she writes for a newspaper on political issues. Then one fine morning, she was called into the editor's cabin to court Mahesh Bansi, president of the currently ruling central government and was informed her of an outrageous game which may destroy his entire political career and the game was set by none other than his own son, Sikander Bansi. Sikander was disappeared and left a CD, with a clue at the end of the recording addressed to her, and a letter for Mahesh which says that the tapes will be kept on coming till Mira finds him.The tape was the recorded conversation in the Parliament about an agriculture scam held within the party and Nalan Malik, a rising leader of the same political party, was accused of being the part of the scam. With time, more tapes reached her mail which put the country in a turmoil, time to time, and she realised that she could settle this conundrum only at the cost of her life.
With this book, the author has revealed what goes behind the curtains. Like the storyline, Author has embedded the characters strongly that will house in the mind of any reader. Beginning with our Protagonist, Mira Mouli, an intelligent, good looking and courteous lady who's caught up in her past for being an orphan and craves for death.'Death is the best part of life ' is what she believed. Aa an extreme introvert She didn't need people, he wasn't used to them in her submerged world of constant loneliness. But her gift of reading thoughts hurt her sometimes, and when that happened, she wished there was someone who saved her from herself.
Then Comes Salat Vasudev, another Know-Journalist, who admires Mira for her profession and eventually turned out to be a helping hand of Mira on the immediate case . Smart and intelligent like Mira, he with his powers of analysing and reading hidden patterns help her to the best,
Then comes perspicacious Sikander who lost his mother at very young age, battled his odds alone and likes to challenge himself, normalcy bores him. He can long play strategies, never lose focus of his aim and achieve with precision. He wants more than what destiny has chosen for him. Albeit I'd finished this book hours before writing this review, but still not able to zeroed my favourite character. Nalan Malik surely is the part of that list, who is bolted as a classy politician. Patient like a wolf, he analyses his every move and of course initially feared to court Mira 'cause of her natural gift. But as the crisis deepens he slowly found himself to be protective for Mira, absolutely unlike his personality.
Apart from all these major characters of the plot, one that constantly hovers in my thoughts is Gopi, actually people like Gopi.People like Gopi came to Delhi to be rescued from the poverty of their villages and didn't have enough money but they not just survive, they live. They live in the small quarters keeping their setbacks at a side. And who're those people, like Gopi? They could be anyone from your Laundry guy to the sweeper or the grocery man or the cobbler, that sits beneath a tree somewhere near your home. They just live their life but no one could ever experience the harsh realities they need to face.
Yes, I failed to zero my favourite character but I know it's only 'Bharat' who deserves my concrete hatred.Wearing the mask of being People's representative, he actually bluffed 'em and caught red-handed in one of the tapes being a dirty politician, a term which people like him usually used to soil other politicians. No doubt, such people exist in the real world and are the actual threat to the society.
The only thing that was hard to digest while reading the book was the inefficiency of the intel agencies to keep an eye on a high potential target.
So 'The Honest Season' is one of the highly charged and must-read political fiction that 'll keep u glued till the very page and left the reader with a tempting question:"So finally  who's the guy ? "

Dial D for Don

Thoroughly Gripping !!!

BOOK DETAILS:

Title: Dial D for Don
AuthorNeeraj Kumar
Genre: Non-Fiction
Publishers:  Penguin Books
Price: INR. 399
Goodreads Rating: 5/5

BOOK REVIEW:

'Dial D for Don ' penned by the former commissioner of Police, Neeraj Kumar, reads like a spectacular crime novel and contains the real stories from one of the India's premiere law enforcement agency. The author had embedded 11 high-profile cases which had brought lavish acknowledgment & gratitude to the author as well as to the CBI.
Most of the accounts in the book are the cases that were handled by him while his tenure in CBI. Every single story mentioned is special in its own way.
In ' Gifts From the Gulf: The Rise & fall of Aftab Ansari ', the author has given a riveting account of apprehending a group of smugglers which eventually lead him & his team to the immediate new rising star on the horizon of Indian Crime scene, with all makings of Dawood Ibrahim. This case not just disclosed the efficient working of CBI but also gave a brief idea of India's diplomatic relation with the countries which in the time of need provides complete support.
In ' Operation Desert Safari: The Story of an anti-kidnapping operation ', the author writes one of the most thrilling cases of the book of hunting down a well knew & dreaded kidnapper who had abducted a Dubai Based NRI entrepreneur, Thekkat Siddhique. The victim had traveled home in search of green pastures. While kidnapped & held hostage in his own home country, were to pay ransom in Dubai, but the hard work of the team on analyzing the minute clues which lead 'em to the kidnappers.
'Dial D for Don; My conversation with Dawood Ibrahim ' holds the synopsis of the Mumbai serial Bomb blast cases and also talks about the Manish Lala, then Law Minister of D Company, who was arrested by CBI and later made Dawood talk to the author.
By solving " ' Atithi Devo Bhawa': Busting the 'Lapka Gang ' ",, CBI putting the miscreants, who were responsible for tarnishing the image of India & its culture, behind the bar. A set of complaints were handed over to the author from his UK counter part which gave vivid details of how low budget-mainly young white girls-fall prey to unscrupulous criminals during their visits to Jaipur , Delhi & Agra in north India and CBI without losing their focus track down the culprits & bust the racket which was spread from Delhi to Jaipur .
'Ayeesa Kya?' : The unmaking of Latif, revolves around Abdul Latif, a gambler, bootlegger, kidnapper, extortionist, hired assassin and mobster par excellence. A mere mention of his name was enough to send shivers down the spine of businessmen, rival gang members and politicians whose notoriety spread beyond the borders of Gujrat, particularly to Rajasthan, Daman, MP, Delhi, Karachi & Dubai. If Bollywood grapevine is to be believed, another biopic on him, named Raees, is also in work.He built a Robinhood type of image and in 1987, lodged in jail, he contested the Ahmedabad elections from five wards and won in all five. By late 1980s, his ultimate ambition of becoming Dawood Ibrahim was realized in substantial measure.Things turned in a dramatic manner that even Dawood thought it prudent to make peace with him. And nabbing such gangster in cooperation with Gujrat ATS officers ,brought pride to the agency.
' Our Man in Dubai: The CBI versus the ISI ' is centered around the Memon family whose members were then accused of conspiring serial bomb blasts in Mumbai. Tiger Memom who played the direct role in a blast from providing RDX to safety fuses and detonators flew to Dubai & then to Karachi with his family & put under the heavy protection of ISI.With time, family found it suffocating to stay away from their motherland and Yaqub Memon's family, Tiger's brother, flown to Dubai which was later rescued from the Shadow of ISI"s spies by CBI with the help of Yaqub's cousin.
In ' The Return Gift: The Arrest and deportation of Roshan Ansari ', Neeraj Kumar explains the case of Roshan Ansari who murdering her own daughter flew to India and on Dubai's call, Neeraj & his team tracked down the culprit and deport her immediately after arrest.
' Devil Wears Khadi: The Unmasking of Romesh Sharma ' is bolted about Romesh Sharma who had a personal helicopter in the back of his villa and crowded suspicion of Law enforcement which ultimately lead 'em to a nexus between Abu Salem & Romesh.
' Salim, the Disposable: Tracing absconder Salim Kurla ' reveals an insightful investigation of apprehending Salim and also includes the account of 21 April 1998 when Members of Chotta Rajan's gang shot him in the hospital .
' Baithha hai, sir, baitha hai!' : The netting of the Punjab CM's assassin, is a nerve-racking story of zeroing CM Beant Singh's assassin on the tip of one of the local police informer.

With such gripping stories, author had thrashed the image of CBI of being a caged parrot of Central Government. So, This book is must read which tells what should have been known and isn't - that CBI is as formidable as its recognized physical strength.
