BOOK REVIEW :

An intriguing tale from the “Fault in Our Stars” author reminds me that cool kids struggle to live up their own legends . Paper Towns Basically revolves around the female protagonist Margo Roth Spiegelman and is narrated in first form by Quentin Jacobson , Q . Story is launched when , one night , out of blue Margo dropped in at Q's place requesting his Car for night with Q as driver . Margo is on mission to take revenge from his boyfriend who cheated on her and rolled Q in his adventure . John Greens had portrayed Margo on the same scale as of Alaska Young in Looking For Alaska . Margo loves mysteries and turned into one , one day . Margo is cool stuff having a strong social life while Q is bolted as an introvert who enjoy the company of his close Friends Ben and Radar .What pulls the story after revenge part is the sudden disappearance of Margo on the very next day .
Paper Towns got this very strong humorous content with writing style good enough to make u laugh rolling down on floor . Not Just Protagonist , Author had given a detailed description of side characters like Ben , radar , Lacey . Ben , a super cool stuff , who is quite famous in school for pissing blood and Ben is found countering everyone saying " Its Kidney Infection " . Then there is Radar , ofcourse like Looking For Alaska , is the code name for a computer geek who stays on updating Omnictionary ( Wikipedia's name in plot ) & his parents own 2nd largest collection of Black Santas .
And like his earlier works , Author emphasized on Friendship in his story and explains the concept of paper Towns in this specific one which he himself had encountered on one of his trip . With Margo's thinking , author has also revealed  the insight view of 21st century way of thinking . How paper people living in their paper houses , burning the future to stay warm .Everyone demented with the mania of owning things . How people never cares about what actually matters and involves themselves in the fake or can paper relations with paper things ( Materialistic ones ) .
So in short , Paper Towns gives a hooking plot with exhausting laughter content with life lessons making it a must read .

The town was paper, but the memories were not.”

In- Conversation with Author K. Hari Kumar

Rahul : what lead you to write The Frequent Visitor  ? Did you enjoy writing a supernatural genre  ? Would you write another ?

Author : My fascination with ghost stories led me to writing about the supernatural. Of course, Paranormal is my niche.

Rahul : Would you kindly debrief about The Frequent Visitor for all those who yet to taste your book ?

Author : It is an old school horror, blending classic gothic and Indian folklore together, while reflecting on the social evils of our nation and the confused psyche of an Englishman.

Rahul : What challenges you face while writing The Frequent Visitor ?

Author : I like to finish my writing in one go. If I take a break, then I get back to writing after weeks, which kinda brings a discontinuity.

Rahul : What else you want your readers to know ? Consider here your liked & dislikes , your interests and hobbies , your favourite ways to unwind-whatever comes in mind.

Author : Music is a must. I do not write without a good background score to go with the mood of the chapter that I am working on. Research is another important thing, and I do not let my mind wander, I stick to a plan while writing.

Rahul : What line comes to your mind when someone flags the name " Book " ?

Author : A mass market paperback.

Rahul : Give us three " Good to know " facts about you . Tell us about your first job , any fun detail you like to share.

Author : I indulge myself in theology and philosophy. I love learning languages, and like to trace the root of every word (etymology). The reason why I regard Sanskrit as the greatest language. Apart from writing, I indulge myself in photography & farming.

Rahul :  What are the favourite books to give- & get- as gifts ?

Author : I used gift people a copy of The Alchemist until my book When Strangers Meet came. As for receiving, I leave it up to the person who is gifting me.

Rahul : Name the books which inspires you in any-ways in your life .

Author : Alchemist once inspired. S Radhakrishnan's Indian Philosophy inspired me. Other than that Ashtavakra Gita is the most recent book which inspired me.

Rahul : What are you reading right now ? Are there any authors ( Dead or alive ) that you would name as influences .

Author : I am reading Nirmala by Premchand (Hindi). Yes, Roald Dahl, Satyajit Ray, Albert Camus, Dan Brown, Paulo Coelho, S Radhakrishnan, Conan Doyle, Oscar Wilde, Kalidas.

Rahul :  We'd heard the whispers that you're writing a book in collaboration with another author . Do enlighten us over the matter

Author : Well, it is a trilogy and I have already finished the first book. I am hoping for a Dussehra release. The book is a never before tested kind of literature in the Indian market. A risk that most publishers did not want to take. It is a blend of Scifi, Fantasy, Romance and Mythology (both Vedic and Biblical). A story that begins in 2000BC Egypt and continues in present day Mumbai, Spain and Egypt.

Rahul : What do you love the most as the citizen of India.

Author : Being 'Bhartiya'

Rahul :  Few days back  our beloved Former President Dr. APJ Abdul kalam's sudden demise shook everyone in India . Nation mourns for his great son . Had you ever met President Kalam ? How President Kalam inspired you ?

Author : Never had the pleasure of meeting Dr Kalam. There are many remarkable traits of the great man, but the one that sets him apart from the rest is his 'Nationalism'. There is a clear distinction between foolish patriotism and proud nationalism, and he is the symbol of the latter. Dr Kalam (and few others) inspired me to be a nationalist.

HONOUR AMONG THIEVES

CLIFFHANGER THRILLER WITH KEEPING READER ON EDGE !!!

BLURB

Who would pay a billion dollars to humiliate America? The time, 1993, and the place is Washington DC. Of the adversaries in the Gulf War, the sole survivor is Saddam Hussein. And Saddam is planning a revenge so diabolical that the United States will be left with no choice but to retaliate

BOOK DETAILS :

Title: Honour Among Thieves
Author: Jeffrey Archer
Genre: Ficton
Publishers: Pan Macmillan
Price: INR. 350
Goodreads Rating : 4/5

BOOK REVIEW :

Jeffrey Archer is absolutely brilliant. I can't believe I waited this long to read this novel. In the span of 479 pages Jeffrey Archer took me from thriller to Mystery to happiness to sadness to pride of Nation . Some themes covered in Honour Among Thieves are Deception , friendship, love, loss, Patriotism .

Plot hatched with Saddam Hussien's plan in execution to steal American Declaration of Independence to humiliate then American President Clinton and in order to retrieve it CIA launched an operation in collaboration with Mossad .The story takes off from an Iraqi Representative in meeting with american thieves to sign a deal to steal Declaration .

The character development in Honour among Thieves was amazing. I felt so deeply connected to these characters which is why this book was so incredibly heart wrenching. Scott Bradley was slightly awkward, innocent boy who was recruited by CIA and works under the cover as University Professor & Fell in love with an Hannah , When years later he was given chance as a field operative .

Then there are Characters like Kartz , Cohen , Aziz who stays with Bradley throughout an operation and stays in thick and thin while on operation . Dollar Bill is another character who is portrayed as a forger . Tony Cavalli and his father were portrayed as the true masterminds who craft a sharp plan to steal Declaration from the National Archives . Hannah & Scott's story is going to stick with me for a long time.
Jeffery Archer created a book full of mystery. I felt my heart rip to pieces over some stances .

I also love how human ties into this novel , In some stances author bolt how people are human and humanity is the true job prior any other duty . Author also highlighted the cruelties under Sadam's regime in which many innocent people were butchered .

Only Situation arose while reading is when some stances seems more than imaginative like the way Declaration was stolen .

I strongly feel a strong patriotic emotion while reading it .It left a space in my favorites for a reason. That reason is sitting right here in my hands. Honour Among Thieves is a brilliantly written novel that will resonate with me for a long time. My only regret is how long it took for me to read this amazing novel.

" That is trouble with lies-each one created the next in never-ending spiral . And that was the trouble with trust ; she believes his every word "

Chit Chat With Blogger Debdatta Dasgupta Sahay

" Something in the lines of my regret of not getting enough time to finish my TBR List of books. "

Rahul :   First of all Thanks Ma'am for giving your Precious time. So First of all How does it feel to be among top ranking bloggers of India .

DDS : Thank You for having me over.
It will sound very clich├ęd, but I don’t feel that way. I know there are a lot many better and quality Indian Book Bloggers out there. I am just happy to be able to contribute to the book blogging community.

Rahul: When did you read your first book? And Which One?

DDS : Technically it was a kid’s book that I got my hands on while interviewing to get into a primary school. The principal of that school was so impressed with my love for the book that she had taken out to check how far along I was, that she gifted me that book along with a fairy tale book at the end of the session. (And yes, I got into the school) But I remember starting to take reading seriously with works of Satyajit Ray when I was around 7-8 years old. He still tops the list of my favourite authors.

Rahul : Who pushed you first time to read Novels? And How many Books You've read so far?
-
DDS : Both my parents are bookworms, so I guess it was in my genes and nobody really ever had to push me to reading. It sort of happened.  I have read over 2000 books so far. But I don’t have the exact figure for you.

Rahul :   What alarms in your mind with the word " Book "

DDS : Peace / Adventure / Thrills… It depends on what I am reading at the moment. But Yes, I prefer books over almost everything in the world.

Rahul :     Do you think reading book is also a kind of therapy which relieves the mind in today's world.

DDS : Yes it is. There is nothing more relaxing and fun than delving into the pages of a book and getting lost in its pages, discovering new worlds, meeting new people… and escaping the reality, even if it is for a short while.

Rahul :      Name some of your favorite authors.

DDS : Satyajit Ray, Agatha Christie, Lee Child, Sarah J Maas, Chris Kuzneski, J.K. Rowling, James Runcie, John Grisham, ShatrujeetNath, Rachelle Ayala, Eileen Harris…

Rahul :   Which kind of genre you like the most.

DDS :        My favourite is Mystery/Thriller. But these days I also love Young Adult and Fantasy.

Rahul :      How do you rate yourself any Dancer?

DDS :     I am pretty good at it actually. I have had formal training in Bharatnatyam, Creative and Fusion dances. In fact, after reading, it is my favourite thing to do. But these days, I dance only when I am alone.

Rahul :      Your favorite holiday destination &What makes your day?

DDS :      Having grown up at Darjeeling, I love hill stations. So, any hill station in India would be ideal vacationing spot for me. Apart from that, I have a weird obsession with Italy. If I can, I would love to visit Italy someday and explore every nook and corner of that country.
Receiving books and calls/messages from friends and good food can cheer me up any time/any day.

Rahul : We've seen some successful authors who prior writing books were bloggers. So do we expect a mind-boggling book by you soon?

DDS :         I have no plans of turning into an author. I am not creative enough to come up with something as awesome as Harry Potter or Jack Reacher. And I will not write unless it is something as great and life changing as that. So, it is safe to say, No.

Rahul :   You de-stress by ...

DDS :        Reading, Dancing and Listening to music.

Rahul :    Your favourite snack while reading books.

DDS :       A cup of coffee and cookies, or popcorn and juice.

Rahul :    Now Answer with Flash , the first word comes in your mind after listening :

DDS :* Food  - Divine
*Movie  - Thrillers
*Song  - Bird
*Sportsmen – Boris Becker
*Pen - Pal
*Words - Scrabble

Rahul :   The last line of your autobiography would read ...

DDS : Something in the lines of my regret of not getting enough time to finish my TBR List of books.

Rahul :   Tips for Book Bloggers.

DDS :        Keep it authentic and simple. And ofcourse, keep reading!

MUMBAI AVENGERS

Thriller with an Economical Car's Pace !!!

BOOK DETAILS :

Title: Mumbai Avengers
Author: S.Hussain Zaidi
Genre: Ficton
Publishers: Harper Collins Publishers India
Price: INR. 199
Goodreads Rating : 3/5

BOOK REVIEW :

MUMBAI AVENGERS as described has been a sentiment , a dream and an ambition especially in the post 26/11 scenario . After US Intrusion deep inside pakistan to assasinate Osama Bin Laden who's responsible for thousands of innocent killings , every single Indian Citizen wants same from their Government to go inside the enemy territory and avenge the death of Indians in 2611 . Plot hatched with the JPC Meet headed by Retired Lt. Syed Ali Waris who is strongly in favour to avenge Mumbai to seek justice by dispatching the masterminds of 2611 to hell but as happens in India , the meet ended with politics of we-are-not-a-peaceful-nation . But the scenario of an assassination attempt on PM Designate pull the strings in Secretary R's brain to carry out the operation of eliminating the terrorist to give a message that India can retaliate well and with that the Journey of Mumbai avenger begins extending from Karachi to Stockholm , Dubai to Istanbul and even includes 7 RCR . The illustrious and patriotic lineage accorded Waris a meritorious position in the army and he has been tasked to carry out the covert operation with a team including a police officer , a suave tech expert , a scientist and two battle hardened army officers . They annihilate the perpetrators with single minded focus , veiling the death as natural ones to save the Indian government from diplomatic and political embarrassment . Every assassination leaves the threads which let the avengers being pursued by ISI .
No doubt the story line is the dream of every single citizen of India . With the book , author tried to patch a message to the government to carry out such surgical strike to eliminate those who are a direct threat to Nation . a message that why can't India act as Israel . Why can't an act of violence to Indian citizen is considered as an act of war against the Nation as US & Israel does . The failure of the will power of government is considered as the inability to carry ant assault of Our Agencies . Author with the characters , their acts and with their sense of patriotism , shows how there are many unnamed soldiers who works in the dark to protect this nation from any ill , Soldiers who can never be medaled , True Heroes of Nation whom existence is denied by the government in case they are caught .
I bought this book with the hope to read a pacy thriller , cliffhanger one which keeps me sit on the edge but the narration shattered all the attempts .Plot  line is good but the way of narration is very poor , words which let the adrenaline rush aren't bolted well . Lines which let any defense enthusiast to glued with the book are missing ! So That's why the book is a thriller but with a middle-class /economical class car's speed .

" .... But your names will never be known . If they are known , it will be by those who want to hunt you down and kill you . That is the price we pay for our vengeance . "

Conversation With Author Abir Mukherjee

INTERVIEW

Rahul : What lead you to write SOAR  ? Did you enjoy writing it ? Would you write another ?

Author : One of my friends, Kartik had proposed a unique business idea which I had never heard before. I was completely spellbound by that out of box thought. We had planned to implement that along with one of our close friends, Dipanjan. However, we failed to turn that in reality. India is an orthodox country and always reluctant to accept any experimental concept.

That unfulfilled desire had driven me to write SOAR. Except that business plan, all the characters and incidents have been described in SOAR are completely fictitious.
I have enjoyed the process thoroughly. It was an agony for me to see that outstanding proposal going in vain. SOAR is an attempt to give some justice to that Business plan.

I will continue my writing till I could think of some interesting plots.

Rahul : Would you kindly debrief about SOAR for all those who yet to taste your book ?

Author : SOAR is all about an unflinching journey of three IT professionals to pursue their dream business, jeopardizing their stable jobs, life and relations.

Rahul : What challenges you face while writing SOAR ?

Author : There are a few portions in 'SOAR' where I had to deal with Indian legal procedures and It tool huge time and effort for me to research on the same.
As I hate to convey the wrong information or leave logical flaws in my books.

Other than that, it was quite a smooth process to write SOAR and get it published.

Rahul :  What else you want your readers to know ? Consider here your liked &
dislikes , your interests and hobbies , your favourite ways to
unwind-whatever comes in mind.

Author : I write for my readers and without their intervention my writing is incomplete. I always crave to communicate with my readers, each and every individual who reads my books. I like to take this opportunity to invite all my readers to chat with me at (FB Profile: https://www.facebook.com/abir.mukherjee.98) or mail (abir.mukherji@gmail.com)
I cherish appreciation and pin the criticisms in my head so that I can rectify them in my next.

Please choose books based on its reviews; not being attracted by the glitz of advertisement. Those books need catchy advertisement which are not catchy itself. Or you should go with your intuition, reading the backside blurb

RahulGive us three " Good to know " facts about you . Tell us about your
first job , any fun detail you like to share.

Author : PASS :)

Rahul :  What are the favourite books to give- & get- as gifts ?

Author : Indian writing is always my favourite as I can relate to those stories closely. Hence, in both the cases it will be some book written by Indian Author.
If I gift someone a book, I will prefer the collections of short stories presuming all of us running out of time and in a hurry; though I am not sure about the reason.
And Ruskin Bond will be my first choice in that case.
If you are planning to gift me a book, please go ahead and pick any of your favourite books. I will love to read. :)

Rahul : What are your 10 favourite books & why ?

Author : SHARADINDU AMNIBAS by SHARADINDU BANDHOPADHYAY
Devdas, Parinita, Srikanta By sarat chandra chattopadhyay
Chokher Bali, Kabuliwallah, Noukadubi, The Postmaster and many more by Rabindranath Tagore
Babli By Buddhadeb Guha
The entire Feluda and Professor Shonku series by Satyajit Ray

Rahul :What are you reading right now ? Are there any authors ( Dead or alive

) that you would name as influences .

Author : The Murderer Next Door: Why the Mind Is Designed to Kill by David M. Bus. It's a hand-picked from a library near to my home. I am working on my next, a suspense thriller. So, I am researching a bit about Murderers' psychology.

Chetan Bhagat. There are lots of people to criticize him and I believe they are right up to some extend as well. But we can't ignore his contribution to inspire the youth of our country to write books. I am among them.

Rahul : What do you love the most as the citizen of India.

Author : I like the fighter within us. We are deprived in many aspects compare to the citizen of other countries like USA, UK etc. However, we are fighting against all the odds in our day to day life and making progress in several sectors. I am proud to be an Indian.

Rahul : Few days back  our beloved Former President Dr. APJ Abdul kalam's sudden demise shook everyone in India . Nation mourns for his great son . Had you ever met President Kalam ? How President Kalam inspired you ?

Author : I am not fortunate enough to meet him.

More than a great scientist, I am inspired by him as a great philosopher. As we are taking about SOAR here, I would like to quote one of his great advice which is the theme of SOAR - "My message, especially to young people is to have courage to think differently, courage to invent, to travel the unexplored path, courage to discover the impossible and to conquer the problems and succeed. These are great qualities that they must work towards. This is my message to the young people."

I saw a few posts on FB which I like to share in this occasion. Whenever you will open your laptop/computer/mobile, search for APJ Abdul Kalam in google to make most-searched-personality of 2015. That might be a true tribute to that great soul of his country.
